Weyrleader Z'vin and Bronze Wirylith
Played By: Arisen Dark BoD
Character Name: Z’vin
Pronunciation: za vin
Character Type: Dragonrider
Rank: Weyrleader
Political Alignment: The Ista Nostre
Age: 36
Gender: Male
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Appearance:
When looking at this bronzerider, with his smug smile, handsomely defined jawline, and nicely toned body, typical of a rider, you would note he practically oozes sexuality- and you would be right! It’s in his walk (that at times seems like it’s a strut), it’s in his light hazel-green eyes when he sees something (or someone) that he wants (and as a bronzerider he believes he’s entitled to anyone he wants). Shells, even the way he styles his hair, with the front part swept up and to the side only helps to intensify that sexual image. His hair is so deep a brown that the light from glows shining on it are the only possible lightening you might see, despite living in Ista for so long where his hair should have been lightened by the sun. While he is sure to keep clean shaven, despite his attempts you are still able to see the faint darkening covering his jawline, strong chin with a cleft in it, and on his upper lip. His thin lips actually look a little pale next to his naturally olive toned skin, made even darker and more golden from the tans he got at Ista.
He’s tall, about 6’2”, but it looks good on him (meaning that his body frame is filled out enough to not look lanky, but also not too filled out to look too bulky). He is lean and fit, with muscles from his turns as a rider but while those muscles are there and can be seen they are not overwhelmingly obvious most of the time. He’s never been someone that people would think ‘scrawny’ or ‘lanky’, more the natural athletic body with a fairly strong looking and defined chest. He’s taken great care to not ever look like he might be getting ‘soft’, running and jogging, taking more than his fair share of firestone bagging chores when he was a candidate, anything to keep him fit.
With that arrogant look of ‘ok, amuse me’ come on ladies of Fort...don’t you look at him and just want to throw yourself at him? Well, you shouldn't...
Personality:
‘Why shouldn't a lady throw herself at that bundle of sexuality wrapped up quite nicely’ you ask? Well...because what is underneath doesn't match that nice packaging.
Z’vin is and always will be one to think he is special and the epitome of what ‘bronze’ means. He is also a stubborn man who would run head first into the Weyrbowl Wall before letting anyone change his opinion -without at least a huge fight- if ever. He is bronze and he knows it, even if others don’t seem to realize what that means. He feels entitled to have anything and everything he wants, including women and especially golds. After all, it is the duty of golds to mate with bronzes, isn’t it? As a bronzerider he believes he is superior to everyone else, including goldriders to a point, and it’s not just because he is riding a bronze dragon. Just one of those reasons is because of how handsome he *knows* he is. He knows he has inherited his father's good looks and believes that any female would consider him Faranth's personal gift to them.
He has a very manipulative view toward women, so although he hits on practically anyone that is female, or just takes what he is entitled to more often than not, he really won't respect or think about having more than a one night stand with a female unless she has impressed a gold, and even then the goldrider having his respect is a fairly iffy thing. Got to spread the love around of course...although his policy of only one night *could* be changed if that female happened to be a particularly good lay. Not only is he manipulative but he also has a bit of a sadistic and masochistic personality in that he both likes seeing pain inflicted on others (or doing the inflicting) and he likes to feel a bit of pain on himself. While he might not necessarily talk about that part of himself that likes to feel pain, he has no problems with getting together with the guys and sharing his times with women, letting them know which are hot, which need a little persuasion, and how he’s hopefully twisted their minds up as bit.
Z’vin is not and probably never will be called a ‘nice man’ but he doesn’t let that change him. After all, why should he be nice when it is the other person who’s wrong? He is manipulative, and not just with women. If he wants something a certain way, he puts his all into getting it done or getting some submissive lesser to do it. It’s not that he doesn’t mind getting his own hands dirty doing something, but if it’s something that ultimately could put back the goals he has if it went the wrong way, he makes sure not to taint his own reputation with it. In that way, he manipulates other people to risk losing their reputation before his own would ever get tainted by a ‘bad’ action. One thing Z’vin doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty doing, and even takes great pleasure in doing, is beatings and other such actions that help teach those under him *exactly* where their place is. However, that’s not the only reason he enjoys it as he enjoys seeing the pain and entertainment value of the beating. But he does keep it on the down low, again to not harm his reputation and ability to carry out his desires.
Birthplace: Fort Weyr
Parents: Mother ???, Staffer; Father ???, Bronzerider
History:
Born the son of a bronzerider and a staffer in Fort Weyr, Zorvin live the ‘good life’ for his first ten turns being looked on favorably for who his father was and told all about tradition. When he was ten though, his mother woke him abruptly in the night and smuggled him out of Fort to meet a caravan nearby. She never told him why and he was too asleep to protest, but when he woke up properly the next day he was *not* a happy boy.
He spent the next three turns being dragged around by his mother, much to his displeasure, until finally one night the latest caravan they were with camped close enough to a Weyr and he made a run for it. He was greeted at the entrance to Ista by a humming dragon who promptly searched him and before he could say no the greenrider had shoved him at the Candidate Master who had him in a robe and on the sands so fast he was sure they had betweened.
He made it just in time for the first egg to crack into a shining bronze, and for the first time since leaving his home Zorvin grinned. It might not have been his plan, but if he could get his dragon than what would it matter? He could easily go back to Fort all on his own. And get his dragon he did too as that little bronze all wet with egg goo slashed the boy standing in front of Zorvin and stopped in front of Ista‘s newest candidate {{I am Wirylith and we will show them our glory Z’vin!}} With those words Z’vin’s time as a rider of Ista Weyr started.
He soon found that it would take months before he could go anywhere with his new bronze and in his anger he did something he later regretted. As soon as their class had restrictions lifted he tried to force himself onto the clutch’s Gold pair. Sure he was only fourteen at the time, but she was a *gold* and he was a *bronze* she should be happy to be with him- as it was her duty. Sadly he’d forgotten one of the biggest unspoken rules about golds until it was too late: you don’t go after a gold until her dragon Rises for the first time. The damage was done though and he couldn’t undo it so instead he turned his anger against J’tor, his clutchmate and the one who had bested him by being the bronzerider the goldrider turned to and became attached to after the incident.
While his rage over the loss was kept in check by the rivalry with his fellow Bornzerider he was still watching Devorah’s gold closely. After all what better way to get her than to win her gold? When Frizith finally did Rise for her first flight he was more than a bit put out that Wirylith didn’t win, but he didn’t let it stop him. He pushed them both and on their fourth time chasing a gold they managed to get one of the Junior Goldriders. It wasn’t what he wanted, but he took it for now.
Time passed and Z’vin grew more and more unhappy in Ista, especially when request after request for a transfer was denied. He just knew they were doing it to piss him off. Finally the day came that he had been waiting for and Wirylith did what they had been dreaming of for turns: he caught Frizith. Z’vin’s attitude only got worse over those next months as both Devorah and Frizith refused to spend time with him and Wirylith, even going so far as to have J’tor’s bronze Golaith prevent them from entering the hatching grounds after the clutching. The usurpers even took their spots beside gold and rider at the hatching too.
When word came very shortly after that hatching that he was finally getting his transfer he didn’t think he could have been more happy...until he found out that Devorah was going too and that was great news- he would finally have her alone! But then he found out J’tor was going too, and he grumbled for days after knowing his latest chance had been stolen away. Not only wasn’t he going as star of his own little show- as it was the gold they needed- but he’d also have to put up with both of them and their game of happy families?
While he might always have been a stubborn and unpleasant man that was only made worse when not long after finally arriving back in Fort Weyr, after so many turns of exile only to find it a shadow of what he remembered, Fort was turned on its head. During the chaos, as Devorah stepped up as Weyrwoman he inserted himself as Weyrleader, using both the fact of being a good son of Fort and the rider of her gold’s last mate to support his claim as Weyrleader. By the time the other bronzeriders got past things enough it was too late; he was already established as Weyrleader and they were stuck, for now at least. Though longer if Z’vin has anything to say on it.
~~Dragon~~
Dragon Name: Wirylith
Color: Bronze
Age: 23
Appearance:
Wirylith is, admittedly, a handsome bronze, well suited to basking in the sun and allowing holders to cast him terrified glances. In the Weyr, though, even the brats won’t be quiet so terrified. Don’t count on the bronze in ‘Fall to try and catch a injured green or blue, because not only is Wirylith a smallish medium for a bronze, which makes their gold ambitions that bit harder, but he looks small for other reasons too which would make it harder for this bronze to assist a falling dragon. Despite being on the smallish to medium size for a bronze, the other aspect that makes him look smaller is that he is a slender and long dragon, so that if you look at him you might think serpentine. His headknobs are a little longer than normal and wings that are almost willowy looking, quite unusual for a bronze dragon. However, all his lithe looking body helps to make him fast in the air, hopefully giving him an edge in winning those goldflights he loves so much.
His hide, however, is as striking a color as ever seen on a bronze...as if his hide color is there to insist that despite the slender and serpentine frame he *is* a bronze dragon. His hide is the deepest molten bronze color that would be seen, and his metallic gleam lighting up the molten color with variations of lighter bronze streaks running through it just draws eyes to him
Personality:
He is an exceedingly stubborn and proud dragon that has a high expectation of himself, which he shows constantly in the sometimes even ridiculous third-person comments he makes about himself. However, if he perceives that someone (be it human or dragon) has slighted him or his rider (a slight real or even imagined) Wirylith is a bit irrational in his angry and defensive response. *He* knows he and his rider are the best, so *they* should know it too!
Because Wirylith thinks so highly of himself he is a quite a bit arrogant at times, especially when he is around female dragons in thinking that every female is flirting with him. Wirylith has a very steady personality and tends to take a lot of time to make a decision about something, but once he does make a decision his mind cannot be changed. He fully believes in the supremacy of ... himself! He’ll whisper dreams of glory into his rider’s mind at night, and urges him to achieve in the most artless ways a dragon can manage, by boasting that he can do anything he sets his mind to!
Weyr of Origin: Ista
Abilities and weaknesses: Wirylith’s a proud, proud beast. He’s as irritated (when he remembers) as his rider that he finds it fairly difficult to catch any gold, let alone the one that fascinates his rider so.
