DF/ Arolos Character Migration
Although Arisen Dark is going forward as a separate game, we share principles, history and originating concept with the original Arolos Weyr spin-off, Dark Fort. We are therefore happy to - and have permission to- share characters from the original game. So if you are a returning long-time player with a horde of characters clamoring to be let loose again... bring them on! Arolos Weyr has even kindly left the old character archive up for you to retrieve your character sheets.
Having said this, please also note that we will only be accepting characters transferring from Arolos on a case-by-case basis, and only for the same 3 month amnesty period mentioned below regarding dead Dark Fort characters. This is both in an attempt to forge our own identity from the games and because our game is a darker themed setting and we wish to keep it like that. Most of our in-game characters would be appalled at the thought of being flooded with many characters from the liberal backsliders of Arolos Weyr.
Also, keep in mind that while everything that happened in the original DF will apply to Arisen Dark, Arolos Weyr will be renamed Southern Weyr. That means that all references to ‘that hippie liberal weyr in the south’ will be referring to Southern Weyr. It’s still the same, has the same history and views...it just got a brand new name! Keeping on that train of thought, we are also keeping in our game the tamer and specialized ‘Callamere’ whers and flits, as well as their white runners...But the name will now be changed from ‘Callemere’ to ‘Lilacape’. Still the same as what it was, just a different name. In regards to Arolos (now Southern) Weyr’s history, only the *history* is going to apply for this game, no future events from Arolos Weyr will be relevant unless it happened in our game. On another note, it isn’t necessary (unless you are making a character who was raised in Arolos, in which case ask and we the BoD will attempt to fill you in on the major points) to know the history beyond what is described in its section on the Weyr page, so don’t worry about that.

What if I lost my rankers due to rank requirements at the original DF game?
We do, as we have hoped you've noticed, have a different system in place here at Arisen Dark. If you haven't noticed- go read them! Seriously, though, we will be allowing the reactivation of confiscated ranks like bronze riders, female riders, firelizards etc on the honor system. That means, if you are here, you may have them back without probation or waiting period-but see below for a few circumstances you need to note. Regarding certain character ranks (Weyrwomen, Weyrling Masters etc) we may not be able to give you back exactly the original rank without affecting current players, which would hardly be fair, but certainly speak to us and lets see what we can sort out.
Reactivating DF or Southern (Arolos) Characters:
How this is done will depend on how your character lapsed within the old game environment. Bear in mind, we share a great deal of continuity with the old DF timeline- and we cannot break the rules of quantum physics. No, sorry, not even for you. The good news is, however we are great at bending them!
Option 1.) If your character was alive the last you wrote them [be they still at Fort, transferred out, sent away or never given an explicit exit post], you've got nothing to worry about! Just read the current plot, figure out their reactions and anything , and get to posting once we have approved the character transfer.
Do consider 2 things as you update the sheet. Firstly, time has passed since you last played them. You should age them up accordingly. If it’s been a while and you'd like to try to tweak that age, please carefully consider the handwave you are about to evoke and be certain that your age skip does not affect other players- for example, of siblings and children. If not, chat to the BOD about your intended tweak- we will work with you and your character to see if it’s feasible.
Secondly, stuff happened while you were gone. You don't have to go into detail, but try and make sure you have some idea of how our character fared through events you weren't around for. It will make for better gameplay for you and save your character from that embarrassing moment where he forgets the Weyrleader’s aversion to flowers.
Option 2.) PLEASE NOTE: Option 2, and migrating Southern characters, is a temporary amnesty Arisen Dark is offering, and the BoD will only be considering revived characters for the first 3 months of gameplay. After that, we will be too far into our own game timeline. Nor do we have any intention of allowing reversal of character deaths from any event within the Arisen Dark timeline itself. This is regarding DF/Arolos to Arisen Dark game transfers *only*. We are the BOD, not evil Necromancers. No...really. We promise.
HOWEVER, if, because of rank requirements (or other reasons) on the original DF game you needed to get rid of a character and decided to kill them and now regret that decision (you are evil, aren't you? We knew there was a reason we liked you), we will look at allowing a character import - and the associated retcon- on a case by case basis.

Things that will affect this:
a.) Did you post a huge explosive death scene that had loads of other characters responding to the death or did you quietly kill your character off and no other characters responded to their death. Did you only kill them in your head? (Then why are you here...see option 1 above.)
b.) Did the death occur in such a way as that it could be given tweaks so that your character lived without causing the aforementioned crack in the space-time continuum?
If there are writers whose personas have responded to your character’s death who are are actively playing and you still want to revive the character, we suggest you approach them about the adjustments to their own character enabling your character to have lived. If the other writers refuse, as is their choice, then we too have to refuse the character’s reactivation.
