M'yen and Bronze Pieth
Played By: Rabble
Character Name: M'yen
Pronunciation:
Character Type: Weyrling
Rank: Weyrling
Political Alignment:
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Appearance:
A tall young man with a particularly square jaw and ability to look very serious, Macnagen is often mistaken for being a few turns older then his actual age, much to his delight.
With red hair that actually leans more toward an orange hue and deep set, heavy lidded dark blue eyes, he decidedly resembles his father, although he also possesses his mother's thin lips, which curve into a smile almost constantly according to his own inclination and habit.
His hair is also a great deal neater then his father's ever was, and is kept in a short style, suitable for those waiting for a dragon. His mother managed to teach him that much, at least. It does emphasize the outward turn of his ears, but that doesn't bother him very much.
Personality:
A happy child, Macnagen grew up aware that his parents loved all their children and developed the confidence to match that knowledge. In fact, he may have developed a bit too much confidence and passed right into arrogance, but he does know when to back down...when the other person's a ranker.
An exception to this rule is if he feels that someone with rank is threatening one of his siblings. As the oldest child, he felt his duty to protect the younger members of his family quite strongly, and won't hesitate to beat up anyone looking at one of them the "wrong" way. If the person's rank is a little bit too high and they're a little too large for him to have a hope of winning, he'll try to talk to them first...but if diplomacy fails, Macnagen will play punching bag and distraction until his father or other help can arrive.
Strangely enough, while he considers his own sisters to be sacrosanct, he learned the lesson that women are property very well. His respect for rank and authority is such that he'd never dare to bother a female relative of a ranker, but drudges and those without that protection are fair game, and since he hit puberty, they could very well find themselves pushed into an empty storeroom so he can have some fun. He certainly doesn't see any problem with what he does to those powerless young women, anyway. It's perfectly normal and they should expect it.
Of course, he still enjoys the more wholesome activities attributed to twelve year old boys. He likes to play with his friends, particularly out doors thanks to a high energy level, and is quick witted enough that he loves a good joke.
He's grown up since he first became a Candidate; having a son is a big responsibility, and he doesn't want to screw it up. He's also relaxed some about other aspects of Weyr life; he no longer thinks of green and blue riders as 'wrong', though that his brothers are blue and greenriders has made him even more anxious for his Brown or Bronze dragon to arrive; he can't protect his family if he lacks rank.
Birth Place: Fort Weyr
Parents: Father Mac'garyen, Deceased; Mother Thajamena
History:
A riders' brat, Macnagen, however, knew he wasn't a flight 'brat. His parents had met at a Gather and his father had seduced his mother while her brothers were away. Caught in the act, her brothers had roughed the rider up a little before marching him out the door and telling him to not come back.
When she began to show, his uncles sent a runner to the Weyr to demand he take responsibility. By the time he was born, his mother was living in his fathers' weyr, where she's stayed since.
He was placed in the creche, of course, but that same day his mother became a crecheworker to look after her children; his mother included any flightbrats of his fathers' with her own children. His father also spent a lot of time with him, teaching him what he thought his son should know; about Tradition and being a rider.
When his younger brothers followed him into Candidacy, he was proud when they found their dragons, though that they now ride Blue and Green was a bitter pill, and he had to rethink the position of 'lesser' riders.
He also learned Tradition from watching Weyr life, and so when he matured physically at a young age, thought nothing of copying the behaviour of 'respectable' Bronzeriders when it came to vulnerable young women.
It was this behaviour that gained him a son, Misacagan, by a drudge called Remise. It puzzles him that for all his efforts, he's not fathered children on other women. It doesn't puzzle his brother T'sa, who is raising one of Macnagen's offspring as his own, as the mother wants Macnagen nowhere near her child.
When a horrified T'sa discovered what his brother was up to, he made him promise to stop hurting women, a promise that Macnagen has mostly kept.
With more time on his hands, Macnagen has stayed busy by mentoring some of the younger candidates in the barracks, doing his bit to explain Tradtion to them, and recruiting them to his kickball team whenever possible.
Time passed, and yet another hatching began with Macnagen walking onto the Sands completely certain he'd find his dragon this time, and with proud family watching from the Stands. However, this one went a little differently than the rest. One of the first hatchlings to break out of their eggs chose Macnagen's younger sister Jacaryena, and Macnagen knew without any doubt that that being discussed in the Stands was the fact that he, a brownrider's son, from a long line of brownriders, was still dragonless while his younger brothers now rode green and blue, and his sister was now a greenrider.
What really bothered him was that as a Candidate he couldn't protect any of his younger siblings.
And then, before he could think about all the things that happened to unprotected female greenriders, his dragon finally hatched, and wasn't the brown he'd been waiting for. Macnagen, was now Bronzerider M'yen.
~~Dragon~~
Dragon Name: Pieth
Color: Bronze
Age: 6 months
Weyrling Group: Flame Dancers
Appearance:
Even for a Bronze, Pieth is a rather large and bulky dragon, somehow having more muscles than most. When full-grown, he'll be one of the heaviest dragons in the Weyr. His hide is incredibly dark, so dark that it looks like an odd sort of shiny... black, though a paler blob on his right shoulder is of a standard bronze colour. His legs will have an almost bowed look to them; despite this, or perhaps even because of it, when he walks he'll seem to almost be strutting. His wings are also on the massive end of the scale.
Personality:
Pieth is the biggest, toughest, most bronziest bronze on Pern. He's afraid of nothing; he's the perfect Fort Weyr Bronze dragon, and he scorns those weaker than him. When fully grown, he'll find pride in his ability to out-eat any other bronze in Fort; his rider will struggle to satisfy his dragon's hunger before Pieth is old enough to hut for himself.
Well, this is what he wants everyone to think. The truth is, Pieth just wants to make, at first his rider and the Weyrling Master's dragon, and later his friends, proud of him. He's terrified of canines, phobically so... and he's a complete and utter romantic.
Weyr of Orgin: Fort Weyr
Abilities and weaknesses: Pieth will never struggle to last an entire threadfall; indeed, he'll not even be tired afterwards, though his large wings mean that agility is sorely lacking. Even other bronzes will outdo him him being agile is called for. He's also irrationally terrified of canines. Any canine. Even the little ones.... though the little ones may be worse, as he. Cannot. See. Them. Coming.
