Assistant Candidate Master D'war
and Brown Kanaith
Played By: KeliRie
Character Name: D’war
Pronunciation: Just like it looks.
Character Type: Dragonrider
Rank: Assistant Candidate Master
Political Alignment: The Way Things Are
Age: 37
Gender: Male
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Appearance:
D’war is pretty average in height, his build more on the thicker side and he even has what passes for muscle tone after years of being a rider. His skin tone is a klah color, something close to what watered down klah looks like to be more specific. His hair is coarse and black, the top and sides kept reasonably short. However he’s managed to keep a respectful length of dreadlocks in the back, possibly because he can still wear his riding helmet while having them. D’war has one of those baby faces that he’s pretty sure make women just want to cuddle up to him. His eyes are dark brown and there’s just something about them that might give someone the impression that he’s not the brightest glow around.
Personality:
D’war is lazy, he knows it, his lifemate knows it and pretty much everyone else does as well. One of the things that saves him from a life of ridicule and pain is that he’s only lazy when it doesn’t count. He’s also a truly likable fellow, he’s loyal to his friends, trustworthy to his betters and dependable if it’s a true emergency. If you need him there to watch your back, he’s there. If you need him there for a talk about his cleaning habits? Totally not there. In case one hasn’t noticed he’s also not the cleanest fellow either, his leathers and straps are always in great repair but the rest of his clothing could probably stand on its own. Sometimes the housekeepers are sure he hides it from them.
Birthplace: Fort Weyr, maybe. Probably a cothold in the area.
Parents: Unknown
Birthdate: Celebrates it on 7.27
History:
Fadwar was found left near the night hearth at the Weyr early one summer morning sixteen turns before the eighth pass, having been left there when no one was watching. Who his parents are? No one really knows, especially not him. Someone dubbed him with a birthdate and a name, for record keeping purposes, and then tossed him into the creche. The creche is where he remained, gaining plenty of friends over the years because he’s just that likable sort of fellow. That one friend you have that you’re not sure why you put up with him, but you keep him around. He’s a great deal of fun and even after he graduated from the creche he managed to keep gaining friends. Since he went straight from creche to candidacy he’s had structure his entire life, something he did his level best to skirt the line of as often as possible.
Turns passed, Thread came and still he remained nothing more than a Candidate that just kept getting older. He had a permanent spot within the Barracks, somewhere that very few ventured. It was his haven of chaos and disorder, kept in a very orderly manner to pass inspection whenever it came. Two months before his twentieth turnday (or thereabouts) his lifemate finally hatched. Kanaith was not at all what he was expecting and sometimes even all these turns later he’s not sure why or how they fit so well together. They just do. Weyrlinghood passed and then it was into the Wings to fight Thread, something the pair of them were oddly good at. Odd to D’war at least because he was pretty sure fighting wasn’t something he’d ever enjoy, Kanaith, well he just enjoyed whatever made him look good.
About four turns ago D’war decided that he might as well try his hand at responsibility, and offered himself up as an assistant candidate master. Which after much consideration he figured it was the least responsible responsibility he could find. He got bored with it about a turn after becoming one, but he was well and truly stuck and it was something he was decent enough at when he tried. Which with a Ranker to check up on him and his duties was enough to motivate him to at least do the minimal amount of work involved. Candidates know he’s likely the best one to get for a punishment, but he also has little time for too much bullshit if it’s going to get his butt in trouble.
~~Pets~~
Pet Name: Blacken
Pet Species/Color: Feline/Black
Gender: Female
Appearance:
This feline is rather on the large size as far as such things go and very little, if any, of it is fat. Black as Crom coal, she’s the type you’ll lose in a shadow, though her eyes are a green color in most light. There’s a nick on one of her ears where a tunnelsnake or a rodent of some sort got her, but its long healed and she seems to have learned from it.
Personality:
Wickedly playful is Blacken. She can be purring and rubbing on your leg one minute and the next she’s shredded your ankle for no apparent reason. Most people she avoids, preferring to stalk the back corridors of the Weyr at all hours of the day, content in her solitude. She does make an exception for D’war occasionally, and she’s made his weyr her home. If anything she’s claimed him, not the other way around.
~~Dragon~~
Dragon Name: Kanaith
Color: Brown
Age: 18
Hatched: 8.04.5.12
Wing/Weyrling Group: Miscellaneous Riders/ Candidate Master Wing
Appearance:
This brown dragon is pretty average as far as size and proportions go, if a bit on the sleekly muscled side rather than the more obvious kinds. He’s a patchwork of brown shades, most of them resembling rust hues. Crawling up his neck towards his headknobs he’s more of a reddish rust brown, but trailing down his tail his color tends more towards an orangey rust brown.
Personality:
Kanaith is very self oriented brown, he prefers to tend to his wants and needs before just about anything else. Of course his rider is often included in his wants and needs but occasionally D’war gets left by the wayside. Kanaith looks good and he knows it, he much prefers if others will also comment on his good looks and because of this he’s quite fastidious when it comes to eating or training. If there’s a way to avoid getting mucked up or dirty, he will find it. It’s not to say he’s a feminine brown, not in the least he works hard and plays hard when he’s in the mood. He just has to be in the mood for it. Often the greens will hear his catcalls from his ledge where he displays himself in just the right lighting for all of his gorgeousness to be seen. Occasionally he might even toss a few whistles of appreciation in the direction of the lone gold at Fort, but he’s not quite sure if that’s in his best interest at the moment. And he is one that is always making sure something is in /his/ best interest.
Weyr of Origin: Fort Weyr
Abilities and weaknesses: Kanaith is a tidy flyer with a great deal of staying power when it comes to flying thread. He can go the entire length of threadfall so long as he hasn't managed a score of some sort and sometimes even then. The only problem is that it takes /forever/ to get him roused and moving for such an event, he knows he has to fight, he likes the fighting. But actually getting him moving and ready requires cajoling and praise that makes D’war’s head hurt.
