A'mor and Brown Juntath
Played By: Rosie
Character Name: A’mor
Pronunciation:
Character Type: Dragonrider
Rank: Wingrider
Political Alignment: Used to be ‘Politics? What Politics?’, but after seeing what his siblings have had to deal with as well as the way women are normally treated at Fort, A’mor has ‘Resistance’ leanings, although he has yet to be recruited.
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Sexual Preference: Bisexual
Current Location: Fort Weyr
Appearance:
When you first look at A’mor you would see a somewhat ruggedly handsome guy, and with his brother standing right next to him there isn't a girl who wouldn’t be able to look at the pair of them without giving a soft sigh or even swooning. He had a normal lean trader’s body, meaning well muscled but not overly bulging, and his body looks very healthy in its muscle to fat ratio. His arms and his chest are scarred underneath his shirt from the many training accidents he has had with his brother, but he and his brother did eventually develop skills with shooting arrows, knife and unarmed defence. He is a kind of tall guy at about 6’1” but his height and his leanly muscled body look just right for him. His eyes look older than his years but his laugh lines help him to look more his age (if not younger), especially if you don't consider his eyes.
A’mor’s face has a pointy and sharply angled look and his pointed chin has a cleft in the center. He has a slightly more pointed nose, but it has a bump on the bridge of it from where it has been broken and his lips are quite often drawn in a line, but not all of the time. To fit in with the rest of his face his ears are slightly less rounded at the top than would be normal, but not elven looking points by far. His eyes are a deep green and his hair has over the years darkened from his twin’s brighter red color to a darker red-brown color. His hair falls to brush against the top of his ears in the front and then in the back it is longer to reach his neck but the bangs are cut above his eyes and brushed out of the way. His skin has a slight tan but it is still mostly fair, surprising because of him being outside so much.
He feels most comfortable in normal forest green colored tunics, but will also wear dark brown as well. He has a tendency to wear light colored pants but when dressing up will wear dark brown or black with his green tunics. He is also never seen without his calf high-folded over leather boots. His dressing up clothes are finely made and specially made to fit his lean and tall body. When he is doing chores or other things he will normally wear dark brown sturdy pants with an equally sturdy tunic to stand up to the work.
Personality:
Between him and his brother he is the more serious and responsible one, but not by much. He has a strong personality meaning that he is a good leader, from experience, and also knows how to solve problems that might arise between people. He is naturally confident, without seeming arrogant, so that people naturally look to him. His flings tend to be carefree, not becoming actual long-term relationships unless he really feels a connection with the person but not one night stands either. This means his ‘flings’ could last for months before he turns to another person, but he does consider his flings to not be exclusive for those months either. He prefers females for his flings or relationships (although he doesn't completely disregard a possible male relationship), but he rarely turns to the females who swoon for him or his brother because of preferring a female with a mind of her own and at least a little respect for herself. As to perusing males, he knows the way of things much more than his brother and any possible pursuit of a male is subtle and more hidden than his female flings.
All the siblings grew up close, but the twins seemed to grow *much* closer (think the twins in Ouran High School Host Club closeness) and at first the twins’ closeness was accepted as normal. But after a while when the boys didn’t grow out of their touchy-feely closeness they began to get made fun of whenever the train would stop at Hold, Hall, or Weyr. Being made fun of didn’t stop their closeness, but a severe beating they were given at a Hold because of their affectionate relationship began to dampen their closeness, at least when not by themselves. This loss of a close companion might be the reason both the boys also tend to have many flings and relationships; they are missing the closeness they used to share as twins but no longer feel they can have without being beat near to death again.
He does tend to be a tiny bit of a boss when it comes to his two younger siblings, but he promised his mother he would protect them. His bossiness is just a way of him being overprotective of them, which they both hate a little and only sometimes (in his mind) argue about. He has a tendency to also be a little harder on his brother than on his little sister, always telling A’sar to be more careful about what he is doing. Because of the tragedy that happened with his family he had to grow up before his time and take on much more responsibility than either of his siblings.
His trader family, more specifically his masterharper grandfather, taught him to respect the dragonriders along with all of the very old ways, teaching him about Thread with his siblings. He believes that things can be solved more with talking, although he is ready to defend himself if he needs to. Just like his twin, A’mor has always admired the dragons and their riders and desired a lifemate of his own, knowing that he would accept and love whatever color hatchling decided to approach him. But when a brown found him on the Sands he was glad that it was a brown because it meant he’d have a better chance to protect his family, already having lived at the Weyr long enough to see the bad parts about it.
All three siblings are very good at riding runners, this being a necessary skill for helping their family make their livelihood trading. He has a tendency to look over his sister more than his brother and she is always on his mind. When he is not looking after her or riding runners he is practicing his archery and dagger fighting with his brother. Besides those times, he will go to the records room, with permission, and read about Pern’s history. Reading and learning of the past always fascinates him and he would read all day if he could. But he doesn’t read only about Pern’s past, but practically any book he could get his hands on, and if someone has a book that A’mor hasn’t read that person is already on the track to being A’mor’s friend. But about friends, A’mor has a slight problem trusting people the second he meets them, normal for Traders who are always moving about, so he doesn’t make friends easy. In fact, besides his brother and sister, and Ralis when he arrived at the Weyr, he hadn’t really made friends with anyone yet.
Another interesting thing about this family, but not necessarily surprising since their grandfather is a masterharper, is that each sibling has a wonderful singing voice as well as some skill with instruments, however each sibling did pick an instrument early in their lives and have excelled with their chosen instrument. This helped to bring excitement to those dull nights after traveling at their nightly campsites. A'mor has a baritone voice that is described as a sweet, milder sounding baritone voice, lacking in harshness; lighter and perhaps mellower than the dramatic baritone. The instrument he was better at happened to be the drums.
Birthplace: Unknown/on the roads
Parents: Amrlyd- Father and Asraon- Mother
History:
Amrod was born 2 minutes before his twin brother (Amras) to a couple (Amrlyd the dad and Asraon the mom) who were the leaders of a Trader Caravan on the 18th day of the 3rd month of the last turn of the 7th interval. The twins were loved and cherished, even after their little sister was born when they were 2 turns old. Even though all the children were loved dearly by the parents, there never being any more than the three since the mother had complications at Aslyn’s birth, they were a little harder on A'mor than on either of the two children. This, the parents thought, was to toughen him up and prepare him to lead the caravan when the time came.
As A'mor grew older their father made sure to take time from his leading to teach the trio of siblings about the dragonriders, the lore of the land, and how everyone should always respect the dragonriders since they protect Pern. When the twins were 12 their father’s father (their grandfather) joined the caravan and took over most of the book learning training and also began to train the siblings in harpering. A'mor showed skill with the drums but he also has a strong baritone singing voice that the grandfather almost envied in his later turns. The grandfather was a harper before he impressed a brown dragon, and over the course of his many turns the grandfather gained the status of a masterharper. It was because of the abrupt loss of his dragon that the grandfather left the Weyr to live with his son and the caravan.
Not only did the boys begin learning harpering at 12 turns…they also began to train with the boys and men learning how to use daggers, shoot an arrow, and generally fight both armed and unarmed so that the twins would be able to defend themselves. After a few months of learning how to defend themselves A'mor realized that his sister was not being taught these things, so deciding that she should (and A'sar supporting the idea) the boys began to teach their little sister how do defend herself (unarmed first for a few years before beginning to teach her how to use daggers). While their mother was quite annoyed with the boys for them training Aslyn how to fight A'mor finally convinced her that their little sister needed this, in case the twins were not around someday.
While A'mor did have fun growing up with his two siblings, there was also a serious side to everything he did and learned, knowing what would be expected of him later. At 14 he was separated a bit from his siblings as his father wanted him around a bit more, learning from watching his father how to run a caravan and even letting the boy make some decisions. As the oldest boy A'mor would surely be the next leader and he was trained for it, although his parents had prepared him for it all his life before by giving him more responsibility and harsher punishments for doing wrong things. From the training A'mor became more serious and responsibility oriented than his two siblings so he didn’t fit in much with them anymore. But that didn’t matter to A'mor because he would be the Train leader one day and that was fine with him. Being the train leader would help him to protect his siblings later so he strove to learn what he needed now.
This was how A'mor’s life went until he was 19; learning how to fight, ride runners, getting taught harpering from his grandfather and how to run the caravan from his father. Then one day there was dreadful storms that came upon them totally unprepared while they were close to the Weyr, but not close enough to reach it before she storm would fully break. There was a cave big enough for them to get to and their father made the train head to that cave. A'mor, with his siblings, were on runners or walking, A'mor doing his best to watch out for everyone and all the beasts they had, trying to get the dray beasts and other runners to move and doing a fair job of it. They had almost gotten everything into the cave when suddenly there was a huge crack and a tree fell crashing to the ground. However the tree cracking spooked the runner their father was on and this one time their father couldn’t control his faithful runner and was thrown to the ground, right before the tree fell on him!
A'mor gathered the men and he and his sibling all managed to lift the tree from their father. While they had hoped he was still alive it was no use, their father had been totally crushed and killed. While their mother was told A'mor and his twin began digging a hole when the rain had stopped and the family had a ceremony for their father while the rest of the train grieved. Since the siblings were grieving, and A'mor was still quite young to lead, their father's second in command, Besnik, took over leading the train and the next morning began to lead the train to the nearest place of rest, Fort Weyr, to spend a little bit of time while the whole Train dealt with their father’s death and while the injured got patched up.
Currently, Besnik is leading the caravan and A'mor has agreed to give leadership over to the Besnik for a few years. Once arriving at the weyr and getting searched A'mor will agree with Besnik to let him lead, even though it pains him to not take command, until A'mor turns 24. If A'mor has impressed, the leadership will fall to the first son any of the siblings have (once old enough of course), but if A'mor has *not* impressed he will leave the Weyr and take up leadership. If, by 30 turns of age, none of the siblings have had a son the caravan leadership will get passed onto Besnik's family.
As of the 22nd Turn, A’mor and A’sar have impressed, they and their dragons have graduated to the wings and they have begun fighting Thread... Luckily they haven't been injured yet. Their younger sister has had twins, including the son that would keep their family caravan in A’mor, A’sar and Aslyn’s family line. Lydia, their blind adopted sister, had stayed with them at the Weyr for a bit...but after falling for a rider who died Lydia went back to the trader’s train. A’mor has gained first a friend with similar interest in books, history, records and generally just learning things, but that friendship has turned into something more as a result of a Flight. Who knows where that will lead to...

~~Dragon~~
Dragon Name: Juntath
Color: Brown
Age: 2
Appearance:
Juntath is a huge dragon that compared to most browns is on the larger side. This brown is actually quite pale, being a very light beighe color all over except for his hind legs and forearms, which darken to a russet color, and the tip of his wings, which again have that same russet color. Though large in size his tail looks longer than it should and his wings look like they were made for a brown slightly bigger. And not only that, but he just seems to be kind of slim in a way, though he is not underfed. It might be the coloration or maybe its something about the way the light seems to strike him that makes him look slender. It's eye-catching, and alluring to people who meet him or see him fly past, which makes up for, or at least causes some people to overlook his personality flaws.
Personality:
Juntath is essentially *the* most conceited brown dragon you’ll ever meet. A’mor actually wonders sometimes if his brown is the wrong hide color. He is arrogant, mischievous to a fault, and actually delights in tormenting anyone and everyone he can with witty and demeaning commentary. Typically, Juntath only seems to care about himself and has an annoyingly superior air about himself. When motivated, however, he has the ability to be exceedingly charming and sharply polite; although most see this as manipulative tactic on his part.
Juntath is a dragon whom is very domineering when given the opportunity and a brown that no one will want to cross especially as he isn't particularly forgiving or given to dispensing compassion. It isn't that he'll hold it against someone -- it's that he'll plot and scheme and retaliate with no regard for who or what else is in the crossfire. No gain is too small for the effort to not be worth it, and no bystander matters enough to make Juntath stop himself. Friends of his rider might even be hurt without Juntath really considering the effects of his actions.
Occasionally A’mor will feel a strong sense of anxiety from his brown...although it’s uncertain exactly *why* or even *when* this normally confident brown will display this emotion. However, when Threadfighting or otherwise attempting to accomplish something he’s set his mind to he will have an almost desperate desire to win, willing to do anything or *give* anything to actually win. If things aren't going according to whatever plan he has Juntath is a bit childish in his responses, meaning he is not above cheating or bending the rules to get what he wants. If in the end he doesn’t get what he wants, he will be a bit of a sore loser, unable to accept the fact that he isn’t able to get what he wants. In these moments of retreat and defeat, he might express moments of humor, despair, and even vulnerability... making you wonder if there is more to this brown that what he normally shows to people.
With regards to other dragons, Juntath will have a desire to ‘collect’ dragons and riders who have like minded beliefs as the brown and his rider. However, he will have a small tendency to act like those dragons who are under him are like his ‘subjects’, expecting them to laugh when he says something witty, and he will quickly lose patience with them. But despite the way he treats them, which he doesn't even realize sometimes, he will expect them to obey and serve him without question...but he might not get what he expects. But despite that he won't really prefer to interact with his ‘subjects’, displaying more interest in finding that special female dragon he seeks.
This is all very deceptive however as his devotion to protecting those he and his rider care about seems to suggest he does care about some things.
But he means well.
